How do I run an OpenVAS vulnerability scan?

Once logged into your Panoptic Scans account, navigate to the "New Scan" link in the navigation bar to the right. Select OpenVAS as the scan type. Enter your scan target either as an IP address or hostname. Give the scan a name and launch it!

How many targets can I scan?

Targets limits are determined by the subscription level. Subscription levels and their descriptions are available here.

How do I update the OpenVAS vulnerability feeds?

Panoptic Scans automatically updates the OpenVAS vulnerability scanner and the vulnerability feeds before every scan, so you don't have to.

What types of report outputs does OpenVAS produce?

OpenVAS produces PDF, XML and CSV reports that can be downloaded from the Panoptic Scans dashboard.

Can I scan internal networks with OpenVAS?

Yes. Internal network scanning is available on the Pro plan. Panoptic Scans provides a lightweight script you run on your own VM inside your network. Scan results are automatically uploaded to the Panoptic platform for centralized vulnerability management and reporting alongside your external scan data.
